Purpose
The Great Nashawannuck Pond Thaw is a fundraising event to support the health, monitoring, and long-term stewardship of Nashawannuck Pond, including invasive species management and water quality protection.

Eligibility
- Open to individuals 18 years of age or older.
- Participants must be residents of the United States.
How to Enter
- Multiple entries are permitted. Participants may choose (suggested donation): $5 donation - 1 entry, $10 donation - 3 entries or $20 donation - 6 entries
- Tickets may be purchased online, or by visiting the following locations:
- City Clerk’s Office, 50 Payson Ave. Easthampton, MA
- WinterFest (Feb. 14) - pond tables at CitySpace, the Library Annex, Municipal Parking Lot at 50 Payson Ave., and at WinterFest events at Abandoned Building Brewery and New City Brewery.

Definition of Thaw
“Thaw” is defined as the date on which no continuous ice spans from shore to shore on Nashawannuck Pond, as determined by The Friends of Nashawannuck Pond, Inc. The pond will be monitored daily from a vantage point visible from the boardwalk. The official thaw date is determined solely by Friends of Nashawannuck Pond, Inc. and is final.

Determination of Winner
- The winner will be the eligible participant whose predicted date is closest to the official thaw date, without going over.
- If multiple participants select the same winning date, the winner will be chosen by random drawing among those entries.
- The drawing will take place within seven (7) days of the official thaw declaration.
Prize
- Winner receives 50% of the total donations received, with the other 50% benefiting the Friends of Nashawannuck Pond, Inc. to support their efforts to keep our pond healthy.
- Winner is responsible for any applicable taxes.
Notification of Winner
- The winner will be notified by email or phone using the contact information provided at entry.
- Winner agrees to be named on our website, social, or digital media, as well as any local media promotion.
- If the winner cannot be reached within seven (7) days, an alternate winner may be selected.
- The prize must be claimed within 30 days of the winner's announcement. Unclaimed prizes will be donated to The Friends of Nashawannuck Pond, Inc.
Use of Proceeds
All proceeds from the contest will be used to support the mission of Friends of Nashawannuck Pond, Inc. and its initiatives to promote pond health.
