Viewing Platform Restoration
|
2/10/2026 - As many of Nashawannuck Pond patrons are well aware, the viewing platform that overlooks the pond, off of the cemetery access road, has been closed for about 3 years now due to safety concerns. This viewing platform has been a favorite spot used not only for viewing, but also fishing, lunching, and wedding photos. One of the support pillars is askew and possibly undermined. As well, some of the deck structure and railing is worn and missing. The Nashawannuck Pond Steering Committee is looking at restoration of the structure. This will likely entail installation of new support beams, and replacement of some of the deck structure. With the help of the Friends of Nashawannuck Pond, we will be seeking funding, permits, and quotes to restore this structure to public use, hopefully in the very near future.

3/30/26 Nashawannuck Pond Steering Committee is presenting the the Easthampton Conservation Committee on 4/13/26 for RDA permitting for restoration of this viewing platform. We will be replacing the decking, adding support pillars in from the shore, and replacing balusters / railing as needed.
At this time we are also preparing an application for Community Preservation Act funding. |
